Throughout the week and perhaps especially at the weekend many of us like to enjoy a nice drink or two. This is not something to be afraid of even if you are on a calorie restricted diet.
One thing to just keep in mind is the calorie content contained in some alcoholic beverages and how to balance this out with the rest of your plan.
If you are budgeting for a few drinks throughout the week, one thing you might want to try is adjusting your meals in a way that allows you to factor in a couple of drinks and the calories that come with them.
If you know what you usually like to drink, check the average calorie content before drinking to calculate what you need to do to balance your weekly plan and stay on track to achieve your goals.
Other things you can try:
- having a low calorie mixer with your drink
- drink smaller quantities of drinks you enjoy – e.g. bottle of beer instead of a full pint
- look out for lower calorie swaps of drinks you enjoy – e.g. Prosecco is lower in calories than Champagne
