At ABS, depending on your body goals and programme, we will build in time for a cheat meal at least once a week.
We do this primarily to make our diet plans sustainable by not cutting out everything you like completely. It is always a nice treat at the end of the week when you have been training hard in the gym. For those of you who are still worried about cheat meals, here are some top tips on how to manage what you eat:
✔️ Be careful that a cheat meal does not turn into a weekend binge. Pick something you love and enjoy that as one meal
✔️ Try to avoid ‘trigger’ foods, so that when you eat a meal you can enjoy it and not crave more
✔️ For the best results, try cooking the meal at home, keeping it as healthy as possible but keeping it flavorsome so you enjoy it
✔️ If you do go out, maybe do a bit of research into the different menus on offer. Try and find places that use good quality ingredients and cook the food well
✔️ A lot of restaurant now publish nutritional information on their websites allowing you to calorie check if you are concerned about your overall calories for the week
Cheat meals done right are a great treat and a way to celebrate a hard week of training, so do not fear them but enjoy them.
